Past Projects

Here are some examples of work carried out in the past by Philip Bastow Cabinet Maker.

The very last project completed at the Reeth Workshop August 2017, a fitting project to end 35 years in Reeth.

Display cabinet in American cherry, with carved images to the door panels, the carved scenes inspired by the customer’s garden.

Current Projects

January 2020 to February 2021:

Where did that year go!.. Covid meant no progress on site so continuing to work from the old stable, not ideal but some smaller commissions have been achievable.

Lock down has given me time to progress a little with the landscaping of the site, as required by the planning. A new field hedge has been laid along with the planting of numerous native trees. After years of making furniture out of our native timbers, it is really nice to plant the next generation!

July 2019 to January 2020:

Getting settled into new place, July to December was spent removing 20 years of overgrown shrubs and clearing an old small copse of dead and dangerous trees, this also to make room for the proposed workshop.

Images detail:.. site cleared of leaning willows,.. plan drawings of proposed new workshop,.. and my first commission from the old stable block,..a ‘little owl’ carved in Elm.

Open …when I can be!!

February 2021, I’ve not been able to progress as much as I’d hoped. Due to covid, ours- like many other businesses in the UK -have had to put plans on hold… and a whole year has gone by!…I’ve still been able to work on smaller commissions, meeting customers inbetween lockdowns!          2021 will hopefully see a start in the development of our site as we move to recovery post covid…..keep safe and take care.

June 2019, Finally here!…Viewforth, Marwood, Barnard Castle.

Workshop temporarily set up in an old stable block on site – little room to work,  so only able to manage smaller commissions, repair jobs, carving, (see gallery pages) until new works built.

New workshop still to be built, plans have now been passed, see details on my current project page.

Temporary workshop – an old stable block… (not seen a horse for some time!!)

After 36 years in Reeth, finally found a new location, which will hopefully have both home and workshop together……seeking planning permission at the moment…March 7 2018.
